How To: The MeetMeOnBoard App

Thank you for using our new app! Find more info here about how to use some of our features.

  • Finding a cruise to join

From the home screen, you can easily search for and join a new cruise by clicking the Join another cruise button and then searching for the cruise you are interested in.

In the next section, you will learn about the searching options available, and later you will see where to find the most popular cruises that people are joining with the app.

  • Searching for a cruise

Screenshot of the 'Find a Cruise' page within the meet me onboard app

We have partnered with Cruise Planners to be able to search for all cruises happening in the world that are bookable from the US (if you do not see your voyage, please reach out to mmob@cruiseplanners.com and we can manually add your voyage).

Input any or all of these items if you know what cruise you are looking for or just want to see what is available:

    Date

    Destination

    Cruise Line

    Particular Ship

    Duration

Note: If you are having trouble finding a particular cruise, try removing the Destination field as sometimes there are multiple options for similar destinations like "Alaska" and "Alaska Inside Passage"

If you dont know what exact cruise you want to join, but want to see what is popular, at the bottom of the home page, you can find the popular cruises section.

Full ship charter cruises, like Atlantis Gay Cruises, and UK based lines like Ambassador and P&O are not in the app by default, so please let us know and we can add one for you. When searching for one though, please scroll to the bottom of each search field for the 'Custom' section

For VACAYA cruises and land vacations, put in your desired month, then destination: VACAYA and all of their vacation options will show up.

  • Cruise details

Once you have found a cruise that you are interested in, tap 'See More' to find out all the details from the cruise line such as the Line, Ship Name, Departure and Return Dates, the Ports of Call, and information from the cruise line about this specific voyage.

You can also see the other cruisemates who have joined that particular voyage. Once you 'join' a voryage, you can connect with those cruisemates who have joined and start a conversation, add events for the trip, and start participating in the community forum posts.

  • Booking vs Joining a cruise

Often times throughout the app, you will see a 'Book Now' button and a 'Join Now' button.

The difference between these is that choosing 'Book Now' will send an email to one of our MeetMeOnBoard/Cruise Planners travel advisors who will assist you in booking a cruise are available for any of your travel booking needs.

'Join Now' will just add you to the list of MMOB cruisemates who have joined that particular sailing.

  • Un-Joining a cruise

If you happen to join the wrong cruise, or things come up and you can no longer go on a particular cruise, you can find the cruise in your list of 'My Cruises' and click the one you would like to leave, then find the "Leave Cruise' button that will take you out of the cruisemates list of that cruise, and remove it from your 'My Cruises' portion of the app.

  • Events

Once you have joined a cruise, you have access to the 'Events' section of that particular cruise. Any cruiser has the ability to add an event that will be visible to the other users who have joined the cruise.

Use this feature for things like making a boarding day meet and greet for other Cruisemates, or any kind of party you would like to host!

In a future iteration of the app, we will be adding the functionality to be able to collect and see RSVPs for your event, and also make an event private that you invite specific cruisers to.

  • Discussion

Screenshot of a cruise details page in the meet me onboard app where you can see the community section highlighted.

Once you have joined a cruise, you have access to the 'Discussion' section of that particular cruise. Any cruiser has the ability to add a post that will be visible to the other users who have joined the cruise.

Use this section to ask questions you have about this particular voyage whether it be looking for friends to join you on an excursion or even just asking for recommendations for where you can find the best espresso martini onboard!

The Community button at the bottom of the screen is the Global Community where you can post a question or reply to any others that are not tied to a specific sailing, but rather larger questions that the entire MMoB community could reply to like 'What are the must-haves to bring on your first cruise?'

  • Cruisemates

Screenshot of the meet me onboard app within a specific cruise where you can see the cruisemates who have joined the sailing and where you can choose to connect with them.

Once you have joined a cruise, you have access to the 'Cruisemates' section of that particular cruise. Cruisemates who have joined this voyage can 'Connect' with you or you can connect with anyone and this will keep you connected beyond this trip to foster long therm friendships.

You can also view someone's profile to learn more about them and also access their social media handles that they have added, and click their profile photo to get a better view of them.

Once you have connected with someone, they will show up in your chat section and you will be able to start a conversation as well as message them from the Cruisemates tab.

If you haven't joined the same cruise as them or dont want to bother, you can click the menu in the top left of the screen, click 'Find New People' and search for anyone who is in the entire app.

  • Chat

Chat lives in the icon in the top right corner, when you tap into it, you will see all of your active chats and you can search your conversations to start a chat with one of your connections.

If you can't find your friends, tap the menu in the top left corner, tap 'Find New People' and you can search for anyone else in the entire app. Once you find them, click the 'Connect' button and you can then interact with their profile and start a conversation with them.

  • Blocking and Reporting

We hope if never comes to this, but if you need to block or report someone for offensive or unwelcomed behavior, you have two options.

    Blocking someone:

This is from the chat feature and in the messages with the person, tap the dots in the top right corner and choose block.

    Reporting someone:

This can happen in the same place as blocking above, or from the Cruisemate's profile page.

    Disconnecting with someone:

You can also disconnect from a Cruisemate on their profile page which will disable them from being able to message you.

    Reasons to block someone:

    -Promoting false information

    -Harassment

    -Illegal Activity

    -Impersonation

    -Nudity or Pornography

    -Spam

    -Violence

  • Custom/Charter Cruises

If you are going on a full ship charter, or are on a cruise line from the UK like Ambassador, P&O, etc and your cruise is not showing in the app, please reach out to us at mmob@cruiseplanners.com and we will be happy to add it!

We base the avaiable cruises on what we can book through our partners at Cruise Planners, but if there is a full ship charter that we cannot book, it will need to be added manually.

Once added, custom and charter cruises will be available to use all other features of the app, but when searching for them, you may need to scroll to the "Custom Charter ____" section of the search, this will be for 'Custom Charter Destination' - 'Custom Charter Ship' - 'Custom Charter Cruise Line'

  • Hide Your Age

If, for any reason, you would prefer that your age is not shown on your profile, you can go into your profile settings and click the 'Do not display my age' check box which will hide your age to anyone searching for your profile or seeing it in the list of cruisemates that have joined a particular cruise.
