How to Check Your Luggage for Free at Port of Seattle

MeetMeOnBoard • May 14, 2019
Good news for Alaska Cruisers disembarking in Seattle! The  Port of Seattle  can tap into a nifty, helpful service, but it just may be one of the industry’s best-kept secrets. LGBTQ cruisers will love this service to eliminate the hassle of dealing with all those steamer trunks and hat boxes!

It’s called  Port Valet  and at disembarkation it it will allow you to check your luggage to the airport and your final destination , FREE.  That way, you don’t have to carry around luggage if you’re taking a post-cruise day tour or just exploring on your own around the Seattle area for the day. Your luggage will head straight from the ship to your airline at the airport where it will be checked in. And did we say “Free?”

So, no more rushed trip to the airport, only to sit and wait for several hours until your flight leaves. Even free drinks in the airport lounge aren’t worth all that wasted time.

You’ll have time to visit this beautiful city with loads of gay businesses and an honest-to-goodness gayborhood. We lived in Seattle and wrote about some things to do there here during your free time .

Here’s how you can check your luggage for free:

  • Complete an enrollment form onboard the ship.
  • You’ll then receive airline boarding passes and luggage tags in your stateroom or suite onboard.
  • The ship’s crew will pick up the luggage the night before disembarkation.
  • You can look forward to a hassle-free disembarkation the next morning.
  • Luggage is sent from the pier to Sea-Tac Airport via a secure truck and delivered directly to your airline.
  • Thus, there is no need for you to check those bags at the airport.
  • When you arrive at Sea-Tac with boarding passes in hand, simply proceed to the security check-in to reach the gate.
  • Best of all, you can track your bags at https://portvalet.maketraveleasier.com

Participating airlines include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, Horizon Air, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines.

The only fees that you pay would be any normal baggage fees an airline may charge for either checking a bag or excess baggage.

We like this link at Visit Seattle   which gives you ideas for things to do and see in LGBTQ Seattle. Bravo Seattle for understanding how to make your city welcoming!  But sailors, just so ‘ya know, this isn’t a list of gay bars, but you know how to find ’em, right?
