What’s Included in the Virgin Voyages Fare?

How much is the Virgin putting out, you say? Here at MeetMeOnBoard we’ve been watching Virgin Voyages in order to suss out the details for our LGBTQ cruise traveling members and friends. So far we’ve seen details about the design of their ship, Scarlet Lady , the Rooms, and the dining possibilities .

Berths will go on sale on February 14th and now we’re hearing more about what’s included with the base fare. There’s good news here. Virgin says that all gratuities will be included. Also covered will be all 20+ eateries, group fitness classes and basic beverages, though we’re not exactly sure what “ basic beverages” means. This isn’t our first rodeo so we’re pretty sure it won’t cover a bottle of Moët in the dining room or a nicely-chilled Martini at the bar.

The line will also not charge penalties or change fees. Clients and travel agents will be able to hold cabins for 24 hours.  After placing a 20 percent deposit down, a grace period of seven days during which they can change their mind for any reason at all.

Options available for cancellation up to 45 days of Guest’s departure date:

  • Receive a “Future Voyage Certificate” in the amount paid that can be applied to a new sailing up to 1 year after the original voyage date.
  • Change to a new voyage date up to 1 year after original voyage date.
  • Change names on the reservation; permissible up to 48 hours before your voyage sailing date.
  • Submit an insurance claim if travel protection (aka travel insurance) was purchased.

Well, sailors, this is progress, right? With all dining included as well as gratuities the base fare won’t be at a low price point, but so far we’re impressed as to how inclusive things look at Virgin.

Isn’t it nice to be treated well by a Virgin?
