Norwegian Cruise Line – ‘Friends of Dorothy’ meetings – times vary by ship
In the past few years I have sailed on NCL on 4 different ships – Spirit, Epic, Star and Jade. I also have a forthcoming cruise on Star in April 2012. On ‘Spirit’ the FOD meetings were held at 10pm every night, and were generally well attended. On ‘Star’ and ‘Jade’ the meetings were held in ‘The Star Bar’ at 7pm. Due to the start time (usually when passengers were getting ready for dinner or to go to early shows) I personally felt they were less well attended. Having discussed this with other attendees, we all felt the earlier start time was detrimental, and that we were less likely to meet up as a ‘group’ later in the evening. However, despite requests to the appropriate onboard Manager(s), the time was not ammended to a more popular time. Do any other readers feel the same? how do we get Norwegian to have a uniform timing? thoughts, ideas etc?

Same problem on the Celebrity this last week (Eclipse). I didn’t think they even HAD any and found out they posted it in guest relations rather than publishing for the general news consumption. (Although they published thee meeting times for “Friends of Bill W.” regularly). They were at 730 pm…also a problem for dinner!

Last year on the Epic, the meetings were early (7:00ish). The location was actually too small, but the early time gave everyone a chance to join others for dinner or a show.
The first time I took my partner on a cruise, he saw the Bill W meetings listed on the daily calendar. When he read that their were Friends of Dorothy meetings..he thought they were for women who do not drink! I just laughed!
